Car
If you are traveling by car, start from Chefchaouen. Head east on the N2 road towards Akchour. After approximately 30 kilometers, take the turnoff towards Jebel El-Kelaa, which is marked by local signs. Follow the winding mountain roads for about 10 kilometers until you reach the base of the mountain. Parking is available at designated areas near the trailhead, but you should arrive early to secure a spot.
Public Transportation
To reach Jebel El-Kelaa by public transportation, take a bus from Chefchaouen to Akchour. The bus station in Chefchaouen is located at Place Outa el Hammam. Buses depart frequently, and the fare is approximately 20 MAD. Once you arrive in Akchour, you will need to hire a local taxi to take you to the base of Jebel El-Kelaa, which should cost around 50 MAD. Taxis may be shared, so be prepared to wait for other passengers.
Hiking
From the parking area at the base of Jebel El-Kelaa, follow the marked hiking trails. The ascent to the summit can take about 2 to 3 hours, depending on your fitness level. Ensure you carry enough water and snacks, as there are no facilities along the trail. The path is well-trodden, but it can be steep in places, so sturdy hiking boots are recommended.
