Hi, I'm Eve. Here are a few practical things to know before exploring Talassemtane National Park.
Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Car
If you're traveling by car, start from Chefchaouen, one of the main cities in the Rif Mountains. Take Route N2 south toward Tetouan. After about 30 km, look for signs to Route R710, which will lead you to the park. Follow R710 until you reach the entrance of Talassemtane National Park. Note that the last part of the road might be unpaved, so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended. The park's coordinates are approximately 35.1306° N, -5.0807° W.
Public Transportation
To reach Talassemtane National Park using public transportation, take a grand taxi from Chefchaouen to the nearest village, Adeldal. The taxi ride takes about 1 hour and generally costs around 50-70 MAD per person. From Adeldal, you may need to hire a local guide or a 4x4 taxi to take you directly to the park entrance, which may cost an additional 100-200 MAD depending on negotiations.
Hiking
If you're already in the Rif Mountains and looking for an adventure, consider hiking to the park. From nearby villages like Akchour, you can follow marked trails. It’s important to have good hiking gear, and a map or GPS device, as some paths can be challenging. Make sure to carry enough water and snacks, as there are no facilities along the way.
