Thanbyuzayat Railway Station: A Journey Through History

Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car within Mon State, head towards Thanbyuzayat by following the main road (National Route 1). From Mawlamyine, the capital of Mon State, take the highway towards the north. The drive is approximately 45 km and will take around 1 hour. Look for signs indicating Thanbyuzayat as you approach, and once in the town, navigate to Thiriyadanar Street where the station is located. Parking is available near the station.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  From Mawlamyine, you can take a local bus heading towards Thanbyuzayat. Buses leave frequently from the main bus terminal in Mawlamyine, and the fare is generally around 1,000 MMK (Myanmar Kyat). The journey takes about 1 to 1.5 hours. Once you arrive at Thanbyuzayat, ask the driver or locals for directions to Thiriyadanar Street, which is where the railway station is located.

• Motorbike Taxi

  For a quicker and more local experience, you can hire a motorbike taxi from nearby towns or within Thanbyuzayat itself. Negotiate the fare beforehand; it should cost around 2,000 to 3,000 MMK depending on your starting point. The motorbike taxi can take you directly to Thanbyuzayat Railway Station on Thiriyadanar Street.

• Walking

  If you're already in Thanbyuzayat town, you can easily walk to the railway station. It is centrally located on Thiriyadanar Street. Just ask locals for directions if you're unsure; they are friendly and can guide you. The station is a short walk from most areas in town.
