Walking
If you are starting from the center of Pyay, head south on the main road (Pyi Road). Continue straight for about 1 kilometer until you reach the intersection with Pagoda Road. Turn right onto Pagoda Road and walk for approximately 500 meters. You will see Shwemawdaw Pagoda on your right. The pagoda is a large, golden structure, and is hard to miss.
Bicycle
Rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Pyay. Start at the Pyay Railway Station and head south on Pyi Road. Ride straight for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the intersection with Pagoda Road. Turn right onto Pagoda Road and continue cycling for about 500 meters. Shwemawdaw Pagoda will be on your right. Look for the large golden stupa as your landmark.
Tuk-Tuk
Find a nearby tuk-tuk driver in Pyay. Tell them you would like to go to Shwemawdaw Pagoda. The driver will take you south via Pyi Road. The ride is about 10-15 minutes, depending on traffic. You will be dropped off directly at the entrance of the pagoda, which is marked by its impressive golden stupa.
