Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car in Kaokoland, start from the nearest major town, which is Opuwo. Head northwest on the C43 road towards Kamanjab. After about 70 km, you will reach the D3705 road. Turn left onto D3705 and continue for about 100 km until you reach the Purros area. Look for the signs indicating Purros Conservancy, which is located at coordinates -18.7736987, 12.9507496. As you approach Purros, be prepared for unpaved roads and ensure your vehicle is suitable for rough terrain.

• Public Transportation

  For those relying on public transportation, first travel to Opuwo, which can be reached by bus or shuttle from Windhoek or other major cities. Once in Opuwo, you can find local taxis or shared rides that head towards the Purros Conservancy area. It's advisable to arrange this transportation in advance, as services may not be frequent. Ensure you agree on the fare beforehand, which may cost approximately 300-500 Namibian Dollars (NAD) depending on the distance and number of passengers.

  For adventurous travelers already in the vicinity of Purros, you could consider walking or cycling from nearby campsites or lodges.
