Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest major town, which is Maltahöhe. From Maltahöhe, take the C14 road heading south towards the Namib Desert. Continue on the C14 for approximately 50 kilometers until you reach the junction with the Duwisib Castle Road (also known as the D1260). Turn left onto the Duwisib Castle Road and drive for about 12 kilometers. The castle will be clearly visible on your right. Please note that the road can be gravel in parts, so drive cautiously.
Public Transportation
For those relying on public transportation, take a bus from Windhoek to Maltahöhe. The journey typically takes about 4-5 hours. Once you arrive in Maltahöhe, you may need to arrange for a taxi or local shuttle service to Duwisib Castle, which is approximately 62 kilometers away. Ensure to negotiate the fare in advance, as taxi services may not be readily available. It is advisable to confirm the return trip with the taxi driver.
Walking
If you are nearby and prefer walking, be aware that Duwisib Castle is accessible via the Duwisib Castle Road. Keep in mind that the distance from Maltahöhe is significant (about 62 kilometers), and walking is not recommended due to the heat and lack of shade. If you decide to walk, ensure you are well-prepared with water, sun protection, and appropriate footwear.
