Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the center of Kathmandu. Head south on the Ring Road towards Dakshinkali. Continue on the Ring Road for about 10 km until you reach the junction at Jalkanya. Take a right turn at the junction onto the road leading to Dakshinkali. Follow this road for approximately 6 km until you reach the Bhasmasur Hill area. There is parking available near the base of the hill.
Public Transportation - Bus
To reach Bhasmasur Hill via public transportation, board a local microbus or bus from Kathmandu heading towards Dakshinkali. Buses frequently depart from the Ratna Park bus station. The fare is approximately NPR 50-100. Stay on the bus until you reach the Dakshinkali bus stop. From there, you can either walk to Bhasmasur Hill, which is about a 30-minute hike, or hire a local taxi for around NPR 300-500 to take you closer to the hill's base.
Taxi
For a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from Kathmandu to Bhasmasur Hill. This will cost you around NPR 1500-2500 depending on your negotiation skills and the taxi's willingness to wait for you while you explore the area. The journey takes about 40 minutes. Ensure you confirm the return fare with the driver before starting your trip.
Hiking
If you prefer a more adventurous route, you can choose to hike from Dakshinkali to Bhasmasur Hill. This requires a moderate level of fitness and takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. The trail is well-marked and offers stunning views of the Kathmandu Valley. Ensure you're wearing appropriate hiking shoes and carry enough water and snacks for the journey.
