Car
If you are traveling by car, start your journey from Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. Drive east on the Arniko Highway (also known as the Kathmandu - Kodari Road) towards Bhaktapur. Continue on this road until you reach the town of Jiri. From Jiri, follow the signs to Bhandar and then to Lukhla. The drive takes approximately 12-14 hours, depending on road conditions. Once in Lukhla, you will need to park your car in a designated area and continue your journey on foot or by hiring a local guide.

To reach Sagarmatha National Park using public transportation, take a tourist bus from Kathmandu to Jiri. Buses leave regularly from the tourist bus park in Kathmandu. The journey takes about 8-10 hours. Once you arrive in Jiri, you can take a local jeep or bus to Lukhla. This part of the journey takes around 4-5 hours. In Lukhla, you will have to arrange for a local guide or porter to take you into Sagarmatha National Park, as it is not accessible by vehicle.

After reaching Lukhla, the trekking route to Sagarmatha National Park begins. The trek from Lukhla to the park entrance at Monjo takes about 2-3 days, depending on your pace. The trail is well-marked and offers stunning views of the Himalayas. It is advisable to hire a local guide who can assist with navigation and provide insights into the local culture. You will need to pay for the Sagarmatha National Park entrance fee, which is around NPR 3,000 for foreign tourists.
