Getting There

Car
From Kanchenjunga Base Camp, start your journey by heading back towards the nearest town, which is usually Tumling. The road is steep and may require a 4x4 vehicle. If you have a personal or rented car, drive towards Tumling, which is approximately 8 km away. The drive should take about 30 minutes. From Tumling, continue on the road towards Sandakphu, which is another 10 km away. This stretch will take about 1 hour due to the terrain. Ensure you have sufficient fuel as there are no refueling stations along this route.

If you prefer public transport, first make your way to the nearest major town, which is Maneybhanjang. From Kanchenjunga Base Camp, you can trek down to Maneybhanjang, which is about a 15 km trek and should take approximately 5-6 hours. Once you reach Maneybhanjang, look for shared jeeps or local taxis heading to Sandakphu. The jeep ride from Maneybhanjang to Sandakphu is around 20 km and will cost you approximately INR 600-800 per person. This journey will take about 1.5 to 2 hours depending on road conditions.
