After approximately 700 meters, you will arrive at Chauk Bazaar. The statue is located in the center of the market. Walking from Chowrasta (The Mall) takes about 15 minutes.

First was with the American Expedition in 1963 and the second was with Indian Everest Expedition 1965. He also worked as an instructor and then field director at the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI) in Darjeeling for many years.
