Walking
If you are staying in the Thamel area, start by heading east on Tridevi Marg towards the intersection with Pashupatinath Road. Once you reach the roundabout, take the second exit onto Pashupatinath Road. Continue walking straight until you reach the entrance of Pashupatinath Temple. From there, take the right turn and walk along the road until you reach the Boudha area. The Boudhanath Stupa will be visible from a distance as you approach, located at Boudha Sadak.
Local Bus
From Thamel, walk to the bus stop at Ratna Park. Catch a local bus heading towards Boudhanath; these buses are often marked with 'Boudha' or 'Boudhanath'. The bus ride will take approximately 30 minutes depending on traffic. Get off at the Boudhanath bus stop. From there, walk straight for about 5 minutes and you will arrive at the Boudhanath Stupa, which is hard to miss due to its large dome.
Taxi or Rickshaw
To reach Boudhanath from anywhere in Kathmandu, you can hire a taxi or a rickshaw. Simply tell the driver you want to go to Boudhanath Stupa. It is best to agree on a fare before starting your journey. The ride will take around 20 minutes depending on traffic conditions. The taxi or rickshaw will drop you off right near the entrance to the stupa.
