Bus
From Kathmandu Durbar Square, walk to the bus station near the Old Bus Park. Look for a bus headed towards Kirtipur. The fare is usually around 30-50 NPR. The journey will take approximately 30-45 minutes. Once you reach Kirtipur, you can ask the driver to drop you at the main entrance of the town or at the popular tourist site, Bagh Bhairab Temple.
Microbus
At Ratna Park, locate the microbus station which has microbuses heading to Kirtipur. The fare is around 20-30 NPR. The microbus ride will take about 30 minutes. Inform the driver that you wish to go to Kirtipur, and they will drop you off at a central location in Kirtipur.
Walking
If you are staying near Patan, you can walk to Kirtipur. Start from Patan Durbar Square and head west towards the Bagmati River. Cross the river, then continue straight on the main road leading to Kirtipur. It is approximately a 4-5 km walk, which will take around 1-1.5 hours. Enjoy the scenery along the way!
Cycle Rickshaw
You can hire a cycle rickshaw from Thamel or any nearby area. Negotiate the fare before starting, which should be around 300-500 NPR. The rickshaw will take you directly to Kirtipur, and the ride will take about 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic.
