Getting There

Walking
If you are starting from Thamel, head southwest on Chaksibari Marg toward Jyatha. Continue straight onto the road until you reach the intersection with the busy Pashupatinath Road. Turn left and walk along this road until you arrive at the Ratna Park area. From Ratna Park, you can take the bus or microbus heading to Chhauni. The bus will take you directly to Chhauni, which is within walking distance of the Military Museum.

If you are starting from Kathmandu Durbar Square, exit the square and walk towards the west along the Basantapur Durbar Square Road. Follow this road until it merges into Bhaktapur Durbar Square Road. Continue straight until you reach the intersection at Kamaladi. Here, turn left and head towards Chhauni. The Military Museum is located a short walk from the main road.

Public Transport
From Basantapur, take a local bus or microbus heading towards Chhauni. The buses may have different signs, so look for one that says 'Chhauni' or 'Army Museum'. The journey will take approximately 20-30 minutes. Once you reach Chhauni, disembark and walk towards the Military Museum, which is well-signposted and easy to find.

From Boudhanath Stupa, walk towards the Boudha Gate and head south along the road. Continue walking until you reach the junction of the main road. From there, turn left and continue straight, keeping an eye out for public transportation that may head towards Chhauni. Alternatively, you can continue to walk towards Chhauni directly, which will take about an hour.
