Walking
From Pashupatinath Temple, exit the temple complex and head south towards the Bagmati River. Cross the bridge over the river. Once you are on the other side, continue straight along the road for about 1 kilometer until you reach the main road (New Road). This road will lead you toward Kathmandu Durbar Square. As you walk, you will pass local shops and eateries. Keep an eye out for the signs pointing towards Basantapur, which is the area where Kathmandu Durbar Square is located.
Public Bus
If you prefer a faster option, you can take a local bus from Pashupatinath. Look for a bus heading towards Ratna Park or Basantapur. The bus stop is located near the main entrance of Pashupatinath Temple. A bus ride will cost you around NPR 20-30 (approximately $0.15-$0.25). Once you board the bus, inform the conductor that you are heading to Basantapur, and he will let you know when to get off. The bus will drop you a short walk away from Kathmandu Durbar Square.
Cycle Rickshaw
For a more local experience, consider hiring a cycle rickshaw. You can find rickshaw drivers near Pashupatinath Temple. Negotiate the fare before you start; it should cost around NPR 150-200 (approximately $1.25-$1.75) for the ride to Kathmandu Durbar Square. The rickshaw will take you directly to the square, providing a unique way to see the city along the way.
