Walking
From any point in Nagarkot, head towards the main road leading out of the village. Look for signs directing you toward Kathmandu. Once you reach the main road, continue walking downhill for about 20-30 minutes until you reach the bus stop. Here, you can catch a local bus heading to Kathmandu. The journey will take roughly 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic. Once you reach Kathmandu, ask the driver to drop you off at Chhauni, which is the area where the Military Museum is located.
Trekking
If you are feeling adventurous, you can hike down from Nagarkot to Chhauni. Follow the trails that lead you down the hillside towards Bhaktapur, then connect to the road that leads to Kathmandu. This trek can take approximately 4-6 hours, so make sure to wear comfortable hiking shoes and carry enough water. As you approach Chhauni, keep an eye out for the Military Museum, which is located near the main road.
Public Transport (Bus)
After reaching the main road from Nagarkot, locate the nearest bus stop. There should be buses heading towards Kathmandu frequently. Board a bus and remain on it until you reach the Chhauni area. You can also ask the bus conductor to inform you when you arrive at Chhauni. The bus ride will take around 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you get off the bus, the Military Museum is a short walk away; just follow the main road until you see the museum.
