Car
If you are traveling by car, start your journey from Biratnagar in Province No. 1. Head west on the Mahendra Highway (H06) towards Ilam. After approximately 40 km, you will reach Ilam. From Ilam, take the road towards Fikkal and continue towards Pashupati Highway. Follow the signs to Kanyam, and then take the road leading to the Singalila National Park. The route may have some steep sections and winding roads, so drive carefully. After reaching the park entrance, you can park your vehicle and continue your journey on foot or hire a local guide.
Public Transportation
To use public transportation, catch a bus from Biratnagar to Ilam. Buses operate regularly and the journey takes about 2-3 hours. Once you arrive in Ilam, take a local bus or a jeep towards Fikkal. From Fikkal, you will need to hire a local jeep or arrange for a guide who can take you to the Singalila Forest area. Make sure to negotiate the fare beforehand. Upon reaching the entrance of the Singalila National Park, you may need to continue on foot to reach Phalut Top, which is approximately 4-5 hours of hiking from the entrance.
Local Guide
It is highly recommended to hire a local guide for the hike to Phalut Top. They are familiar with the trails and can provide insights into the local flora and fauna. Guides can usually be arranged in Ilam or Fikkal. The cost may vary, but expect to pay around NPR 2000-3000 per day. Ensure to confirm what is included in the fee, such as meals and transportation.
