Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start your journey from Kathmandu. Drive to the town of Charikot, which is approximately 6-7 hours away. The road conditions can be challenging, so ensure your vehicle is in good condition. From Charikot, continue to the town of Dolakha, which is a short drive away. Finally, head to the Lukla Airport area where Chhermading Village is located. Note that public vehicles may not go directly to Chhermading, so you may need to hire a local taxi from Dolakha to reach Chhermading. The cost for a taxi can vary, but expect to pay around NPR 3000-4000.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, take a bus from Kathmandu to Charikot. Buses leave regularly from the New Bus Park in Kathmandu and the journey takes about 6-7 hours. Once in Charikot, you can catch another bus or local jeep to Dolakha. From Dolakha, you will need to hire a taxi to take you to Chhermading Village. The total cost for the bus travel from Kathmandu to Charikot and then to Dolakha will be approximately NPR 500-700, and the taxi fare from Dolakha to Chhermading will be around NPR 3000-4000.

• Hiking

  If you are already in the Rolwaling Valley and wish to hike to Chhermading Village, you can start your hike from the nearest village, which is around 6-8 hours away depending on your starting point. Follow the main trekking route leading towards Lukla, and look for signs or local guidance towards Chhermading. It is advisable to hire a local guide for assistance in navigating the trails. Make sure to carry enough food and water, as well as a map or GPS device. The hike offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and takes you through traditional villages.
