Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car from the Western Development Region, you can take the Prithvi Highway (also known as the Kathmandu-Pokhara Highway). Drive towards Kathmandu, and once you reach the capital city, follow the signs to Lalitpur. The UNESCO Kathmandu office is located in Sanepa, Ward No 2 of Lalitpur. You can use GPS navigation or a map app to guide you directly to the address: Ward No 2, Lalitpur. Parking is available nearby, but be prepared to pay for parking fees, which typically range from NPR 20 to NPR 100 per hour depending on the location.

• Bus

  For public transportation, you can catch a bus from various locations in the Western Development Region to Kathmandu. Buses from places like Pokhara or Butwal will take you to the New Bus Park in Kathmandu. From there, you can take a microbus or a local taxi to Lalitpur. Buses typically cost around NPR 500-800 and take approximately 6-8 hours depending on traffic. Once you arrive at the New Bus Park, find a microbus heading to Sanepa or take a taxi, which should cost around NPR 300-500. The microbus will drop you off close to Ward No 2, and from there, it’s a short walk to the UNESCO office.

• Taxi

  If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from anywhere in the Western Development Region to Lalitpur. This option is more expensive, typically costing between NPR 3000-5000 depending on your starting point. The taxi will take you directly to the UNESCO Kathmandu office at Ward No 2, Lalitpur. Make sure to negotiate the fare beforehand or insist on using the meter if available.
