Start at Amsterdam Central Station. Purchase a ticket to 'Hoofddorp' from the NS ticket machines or the ticket counter. Board the train towards Hoofddorp (this is a direct train, taking about 20 minutes). Once you arrive at Hoofddorp Station, exit the station and head towards the bus stop outside the station. Take bus number 300 towards 'Zandvoort'. After approximately 10 minutes, get off at the 'De Zijl' stop. From the bus stop, De Zijl is just a short walk away along the canal.

If you are in the city center, find a tram stop and take tram line 2 towards 'Nieuw Sloten'. Get off at 'Amstelveenseweg' tram stop. Then, transfer to bus number 347 towards 'Zandvoort'. After about 15 minutes on the bus, disembark at the 'De Zijl' bus stop. From there, De Zijl is a short walk along the canal.
