Walking
Start at the Leiden Central Station. Exit the station and head southwest on Stationsweg towards the city center. Continue straight for about 10 minutes until you reach the large square called Beestenmarkt, known for its cafes. From Beestenmarkt, take a left onto Jan van der Waalsstraat. Continue until you reach the waterway, which is the Oude Rijn. You will notice the canal alongside you. Follow the canal, and you will find several picturesque spots along the Oude Rijn, including benches and cafes where you can relax and enjoy the view.

Biking
If you prefer biking, rent a bike from one of the many rental shops near the Leiden Central Station. From the station, cycle southwest on Stationsweg, then continue onto Breestraat which leads you to the city center. You can rent a bike for a few hours for a small fee. As you cycle along Breestraat, you will see signs pointing towards the canal. Follow the signs to Oude Rijn. The bike path runs parallel to the canal, offering a scenic route with plenty of places to stop and take photos.

You can also take a bus from Leiden Central Station. Look for bus line 5 or 6 heading towards the city center. Get off at the stop called 'Oude Singel.' From there, walk south towards the canal. It’s about a 5-minute walk. As you walk, you will see the Oude Rijn ahead, where you can explore the charming canal-side.
