Car
From Great Basin National Park, take NV-487 N toward US-50 W. Continue on US-50 W for approximately 82 miles until you reach the town of Fallon. Merge onto US-95 N and continue for about 90 miles until you reach the junction with NV-34. Take NV-34 W towards Gerlach for about 27 miles. Once in Gerlach, follow signs for Fly Ranch Geyser, which is located approximately 5 miles north of town off of a dirt road. Please note that a high-clearance vehicle may be required to navigate the unpaved roads.
Public Transportation
Currently, there are limited public transportation options directly to Gerlach. You can take a Greyhound bus to Reno and then rent a car to drive to Gerlach. From Reno, head north on I-580 N, then merge onto US-395 N. Follow US-395 N to the junction with NV-34 W. Continue on NV-34 W toward Gerlach. Once in Gerlach, you’ll need to arrange for transportation (e.g., taxi, rideshare) to reach Fly Ranch Geyser, which is about 5 miles north of town.
Bike
For the adventurous, consider biking from Gerlach to Fly Ranch Geyser. Rent a bike in Gerlach and follow NV-34 N out of town. The distance is approximately 5 miles on mostly flat terrain, but be prepared for some dirt roads that could be challenging depending on the bike type. Make sure to carry plenty of water and check the weather conditions before your ride.
Walking
If you're already in Gerlach and prefer to walk, you can trek to Fly Ranch Geyser. The walk is about 5 miles along NV-34 N, but be aware that you will need to traverse some unpaved sections. Ensure you have appropriate footwear and supplies, as this may take a few hours depending on your pace. It's advisable to start early in the day to avoid the heat and ensure you return before dark.
