Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving in Koumac, start by heading southwest on Route de Koumac from the center of Koumac. Follow this road for approximately 10 kilometers until you reach the junction with Route de la Côte. Turn left onto Route de la Côte and continue for about 5 kilometers. Look for signs indicating the direction to Corne de Koumac. The road may become a bit narrow and winding as you approach the mountain area. There is no entrance fee for accessing Corne de Koumac, but ensure your vehicle has sufficient fuel as gas stations are limited in this region.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Corne de Koumac using public transportation, first take a local bus from the central bus station in Koumac. Look for buses heading towards the coast or specifically to 'Corne de Koumac'. The bus ride will take about 30 minutes, and the fare is typically around 300 XPF (Pacific Franc). Once you arrive at the nearest bus stop, you may need to walk approximately 1 kilometer to reach the base of Corne de Koumac, following signs or asking locals for directions.

• Hiking

  If you are an adventurous traveler, you can opt for hiking to Corne de Koumac. From the nearest bus stop, follow the trail that leads toward the mountain. This path is moderately challenging and takes about 1 to 1.5 hours to hike. Make sure to wear appropriate hiking shoes, carry water, and snacks. There are no official guides, but the route is marked with occasional signs. Always check the weather before heading out, as conditions can change rapidly.
