Travel Guide to Mt. Monadnock Site

Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car from the center of Mount Monadnock, head north on NH-124 towards Jaffrey. Continue for about 5 miles until you reach the intersection with Mountain Rd. Turn right onto Mountain Rd and drive for approximately 1 mile. The Mt. Monadnock Site will be on your left at 580 Mountain Rd, Jaffrey, NH 03452. There is parking available on-site, but be aware that a parking fee may be required during peak visiting hours.

• Public Transportation

  If you are using public transportation, start by taking a local bus from the Mount Monadnock area to Jaffrey. Check the local bus schedule for details, as service may be limited. Once you arrive in Jaffrey, you can either take a taxi or rideshare service to reach the Mt. Monadnock Site at 580 Mountain Rd. Please note that public buses may not operate on weekends or holidays, so plan your trip accordingly. Expect to incur costs for both the bus fare and the taxi service.

• Biking

  For the more adventurous, biking to Mt. Monadnock Site is an option. Rent a bike from a local shop in Mount Monadnock and follow the same route as the car guidance. There are bike paths along NH-124, but be cautious as traffic can be heavy. Make sure to wear a helmet and follow all local biking regulations. Once you arrive, you can lock your bike at the designated bike racks available at the site.

• Walking

  If you are staying nearby and looking for a scenic walk, you can hike to Mt. Monadnock Site. Start from the center of Mount Monadnock and head north on NH-124. It is about a 2-mile walk, so wear comfortable shoes and bring water. Follow the same directions as for the car, turning onto Mountain Rd. The walk will take approximately 40-50 minutes, offering beautiful views along the way. Make sure to keep an eye on traffic as you walk along the roadside.
