Start at the center of Cape May, near the Washington Street Mall. Head south on Washington Street towards Ocean Avenue. Turn left onto Ocean Avenue and continue until you reach the intersection with Beach Avenue, where you will turn right. Follow Beach Avenue until you reach the intersection with Wilson Street. Turn left onto Wilson Street, and continue walking straight. The Garrett Family Preserve will be on your right at 801 Wilson St. You can expect this walk to take approximately 25-30 minutes.

If you have a bicycle, start from the Cape May Lighthouse at Cape May Point State Park. Head east on Lighthouse Avenue, then turn left onto Sunset Boulevard. Continue on Sunset Boulevard until it intersects with Wilson Street. Turn right onto Wilson Street, and you will find the Garrett Family Preserve at 801 Wilson St on your left. The total distance is about 2.5 miles, and it should take around 15-20 minutes to bike there.

From Cape May’s main bus terminal, take the NJ Transit bus service towards Wildwood. Get off at the stop near the intersection of Beach Avenue and Wilson Street. From there, it's a short walk north on Wilson Street for about 5 minutes to reach the Garrett Family Preserve at 801 Wilson St.
