PATH Train
From any location in Jersey City, find the nearest PATH train station. The most common ones are Exchange Place or Journal Square. Purchase a ticket to the 33rd Street station in Manhattan. Once on the train, it will take approximately 15-20 minutes to reach 33rd Street. After arriving at 33rd Street, exit the station and walk west on 33rd Street towards 6th Avenue. Then, turn left onto 6th Avenue and continue walking south for a couple of blocks until you reach West 34th Street. The Empire State Building will be directly in front of you at 20 W 34th St.
Ferry
Head to the Liberty State Park Ferry Terminal or the Paulus Hook Ferry Terminal in Jersey City. Purchase a ticket for the ferry to Battery Park in Manhattan. The ferry ride will take about 10-15 minutes, offering great views of the Statue of Liberty and New York Harbor. Once you arrive at Battery Park, exit the ferry terminal and walk north along State Street until you reach the subway station at Bowling Green. Take the 4 or 5 subway train uptown to 34th Street-Herald Square. Exit the station and walk east on 34th Street until you reach the Empire State Building at 20 W 34th St.
Uber or Lyft
If you prefer a rideshare option, open the Uber or Lyft app on your smartphone. Request a ride to the Empire State Building, entering the address 20 W 34th St., New York, NY 10001. The driver will pick you up from your current location in Jersey City and take you directly to the Empire State Building. Depending on traffic, the ride can take about 30-45 minutes.
Walking and Subway
Start by walking to the closest PATH train station in Jersey City, such as the Exchange Place or Journal Square. Take the PATH train to the World Trade Center station. Once you arrive, transfer to the subway and take the E train towards Jamaica Center. Get off at 34th Street-Penn Station. From there, exit the station and walk east on 34th Street towards 6th Avenue. The Empire State Building will be at 20 W 34th St, just a few blocks away.
