Getting There
Walking
From your location in Red Bank, head towards Broad Street. Follow Broad Street north until you reach the Red Bank Train Station. Once at the train station, purchase a ticket for a train heading to New York Penn Station. The journey will take approximately 1 hour. Upon arrival at Penn Station, follow the signs to the 34th Street exit. Once outside, you can catch the subway or a bus to reach the Lower East Side. If you prefer the subway, walk to the nearby 34th Street-Herald Square station and take the R or W train downtown to Canal Street. From Canal Street, transfer to the J train at the Canal Street station and take it one stop to Essex Street. Exit the subway station and walk east for a few blocks to reach the Lower East Side.
Public Transit (Bus & Subway)
From any location in Red Bank, walk to the nearest bus stop on Broad Street. Take the NJ Transit bus 834 towards New York. The bus will take you directly to the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York City. Once you arrive at the terminal, walk to the 42nd Street subway station and take the downtown 1 train to Canal Street. Transfer to the J train at Canal Street station and head to Essex Street. Once you exit the subway, walk a few blocks east to reach the Lower East Side.
