From Greenwich, head to the Greenwich Metro-North train station, which is located at 2 Railroad Avenue. Board a train heading towards Grand Central Terminal in New York City. The journey takes approximately 50 minutes. Once you arrive at Grand Central Terminal, follow the signs to the subway.

At Grand Central Terminal, take the 4, 5, 6, or 7 subway lines downtown. If you take the 4 or 5, get off at the Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall station. If you take the 6, get off at the Canal Street station. If you take the 7, get off at Times Square-42nd Street and transfer to the 1, 2, or 3 lines.

From the Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall subway station, walk east on Chambers Street until you reach Essex Street. Turn right onto Essex Street, and continue walking until you reach 88 Essex Street, which is the location of Essex Market. If you arrived at Canal Street station, walk west on Canal Street to Essex Street and turn left.
