Public Bus
To reach the Sandia Mountains from downtown Albuquerque, take the ABQ RIDE bus number 5 or 66 from Central Avenue. Make sure to board the bus heading towards 'Candelaria' or 'Montgomery'. Ride until you reach the 'Embudo Canyon' stop. From there, you will need to walk approximately 1.5 miles north towards the Sandia Mountains. Follow the trail signs to guide you through the paths leading up the mountain.

If you prefer biking, you can rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Albuquerque. Start from the Albuquerque BioPark and head north on the bike path along the Rio Grande. Continue on the path until you reach the bridge at Candelaria, then turn east. Follow Candelaria Road until it leads you to the foothills of the Sandia Mountains. The bike ride is about 10 miles and offers beautiful views along the way.
