Car
To reach Fort Union National Monument from Chaco Culture National Historical Park, start by getting back to NM-57. Drive south on NM-57 for approximately 18 miles until you reach the junction with US-550. Take a left onto US-550 heading east. Continue on US-550 for about 19 miles until you reach the small town of Bernalillo. Here, take the exit onto I-25 North. Follow I-25 North for around 50 miles until you reach Exit 366 for NM-161 toward Watrous. Take this exit and follow NM-161 for about 8 miles. Fort Union National Monument will be on your right at 3115 NM-161, Watrous, NM 87753.

Public Transportation
Using public transportation will be more complex as there are no direct buses from Chaco Culture National Historical Park to Fort Union National Monument. First, you would need to get to the nearest town with bus services, which is Farmington. From Chaco, take a taxi or shuttle service to Farmington (this may incur costs of around $150-$200). Once in Farmington, you can take the New Mexico Park and Ride bus service to Santa Fe. From Santa Fe, you can take another bus or taxi to reach Las Vegas, NM. Finally, from Las Vegas, you will need to take a taxi to Fort Union National Monument, which is about 20 miles away. Note that this route may take several hours and requires checking bus schedules in advance.
