From Las Vegas, NM, head south on NM-518 S. Continue for approximately 12 miles until you reach Route 1. Turn left onto Route 1. The Las Vegas National Wildlife Refuge Admin Building and Visitor Contact Station will be on your left after about 3 miles. Look for the signage indicating the refuge.

From Las Vegas, NM, take the local bus service (if available) towards the nearest stop outside the city. Check with local transportation for routes and schedules. Once you reach the nearest stop to the Refuge on NM-518, you may need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to take you the remaining distance of approximately 5 miles to Route 1.

If you're feeling adventurous and have a bicycle, from Las Vegas, NM, head south on NM-518 S. The distance is about 15 miles one way. Ensure you wear a helmet and have safety gear as the road may have vehicle traffic. Once you reach Route 1, turn left and continue for another 3 miles to the Visitor Contact Station.
