Getting There

• Car

  If you are already in the Manzano Mountains and have access to a car, start by making your way to NM-60. From NM-60, turn onto NM-107 heading south toward Torreon. Continue on NM-107 for about 10 miles until you reach the intersection with Forest Road 252. Turn left onto Forest Road 252 and follow it for approximately 4 miles. Look for signage indicating Capilla Peak Campground; the campground entrance will be on your right. Ensure your vehicle is suitable for dirt roads, as some sections may be unpaved.

• Public Transportation + Hiking

  If you are relying on public transportation, your best option is to take a bus to the nearest town, which is Torreon. From there, you will need to arrange a taxi or rideshare service to take you to the intersection of NM-107 and Forest Road 252. Once dropped off, you will need to hike approximately 4 miles along Forest Road 252 to reach Capilla Peak Campground. Be mindful that public transportation options might be limited, so check local schedules ahead of time.

• Bicycle

  For those adventurous enough to cycle, you can start from Torreon. Begin your ride on NM-107 heading south. The road is moderately busy, so exercise caution. After about 10 miles, turn left onto Forest Road 252. Continue on this road for around 4 miles until you see signs for Capilla Peak Campground. Ensure you have appropriate biking gear, especially for dirt trails leading to the campground.
