From any location in the Rio Grande Valley, head northwest on US-85 N. Continue on US-85 N for approximately 45 miles until you reach the exit for I-25 N towards Santa Fe. Merge onto I-25 N and continue for about 15 miles. Take exit 169 towards NM-1 S/La Joya. Turn left onto NM-1 S and follow the signs for Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge entrance will be on your right after about 10 miles. Make sure to check the operating hours, as it typically closes at 4:30 PM.

While public transportation options are limited, you can take a Greyhound bus from various locations in the Rio Grande Valley to Albuquerque, New Mexico.
