From the center of Truth or Consequences, head east on Main Street towards the intersection with Date Street. Turn left onto Date Street and continue straight until you reach the intersection with NM-181. Turn right onto NM-181 and follow it out of town for about 1.5 miles. You will pass several local shops and residences. After about 1.5 miles, you will see signs for Elephant Butte Lake State Park. Continue straight until you reach the entrance of Desert Cove Campground located on your right.

Starting from the downtown area of Truth or Consequences, rent a bike from a local rental service. Head east on Main Street and turn left onto Date Street. From Date Street, take a right onto NM-181. Follow NM-181 for approximately 1.5 miles. You will pass through some scenic areas, so take your time. Look for the entrance to Desert Cove Campground on your right as you approach Elephant Butte Lake State Park.

Check the local bus schedule for routes heading towards Elephant Butte. Board a bus that heads to Elephant Butte Lake State Park. Inform the driver that you want to get off at Desert Cove Campground.
