Car
If you are traveling by car, start by navigating to the town of Lexington, NY. From there, head south on NY-42 for approximately 2.5 miles. Look for the Diamond Notch Road on your right; turn onto this road. Continue on Diamond Notch Road until you reach the parking area for the Diamond Notch Falls trailhead, which is about 1.5 miles down the road. Note that the road is unpaved and can be rocky, so a vehicle with good clearance is recommended. There is no fee to park, but spaces may be limited during peak times.
Public Transportation + Hiking
For those using public transportation, take a bus from nearby towns such as Kingston or Catskill to the town of Lexington. Once in Lexington, you can either take a taxi or rideshare to reach the Diamond Notch Road. Due to limited public transport options, it’s advisable to check local schedules ahead of time. After reaching Diamond Notch Road, follow it until you find the parking area for the trailhead. From the parking area, hike about 1.5 miles along the trail to reach Diamond Notch Falls. The trail can be rocky, so wearing sturdy shoes is recommended.
Biking
If you prefer biking, you can cycle to Diamond Notch Falls from the town of Lexington. Use NY-42 and Diamond Notch Road to reach the falls. The ride is approximately 4 miles from Lexington to the parking area. Be prepared for a mix of paved and unpaved roads, and ensure your bike is equipped for rough terrain. Note that this option is best for experienced cyclists due to the rocky conditions.
