If you're driving from the town of Catskill, NY, take NY-23 West for approximately 12 miles. Turn left onto NY-214 South and continue for about 10 miles. Once you reach the town of Tannersville, turn right onto NY-23A. Follow this road for about 2 miles, then turn left onto Evergreen Mountain Road. Continue on Evergreen Mountain Road for approximately 2 miles until you reach the Hunter-West Kill Wilderness parking area at 25 Evergreen Mt Rd, West Kill, NY 12492. Please note that parking may incur a fee, usually around $10.
Public Transportation
To reach Hunter-West Kill Wilderness via public transportation, you can take a bus from New York City to the Catskills. The Trailways bus service operates from Port Authority Bus Terminal to various locations in the Catskills including Tannersville. Once in Tannersville, you will need to take a taxi or rideshare service to reach the parking area at 25 Evergreen Mt Rd, West Kill, NY 12492. Taxi services may charge around $25-$40 for this trip, so please budget accordingly.
Bicycle
If you're an adventurous cyclist, you can bike from nearby towns such as Tannersville. From Tannersville, head south on NY-214 for about 5 miles, then turn right onto Evergreen Mountain Road. It's a scenic ride, but be prepared for some hilly terrain. Make sure to wear a helmet and bring plenty of water. Note that you may need to secure your bike at the parking area as there may not be designated bike racks.
