    If you're traveling by car, start by heading south on NY-32 from any point in the Catskill Mountains. Continue on NY-32 until you reach the town of Catskill. From Catskill, take NY-23 West until you reach the intersection with US-9. Turn right onto US-9 North. Follow US-9 North for approximately 11 miles until you reach the town of Hyde Park. In Hyde Park, turn left onto Vanderbilt Park Road. The Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site will be on your right at 119 Vanderbilt Park Rd, Hyde Park, NY 12538. There is free parking available on site.

Check schedules for the Trailways bus service which operates routes through the region. Once you arrive at the Poughkeepsie station, you can catch the Metro-North Railroad (Hudson Line) train towards Grand Central Terminal in New York City. Get off at the Hyde Park station. From the Hyde Park station, you will need to use a taxi or a rideshare service (like Uber or Lyft) to cover the remaining 3 miles to the Vanderbilt Mansion.
