Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving from anywhere in Long Island, take the Long Island Expressway (I-495) west towards Queens. Merge onto the Queens Midtown Tunnel toward Manhattan. Once in Manhattan, follow signs for FDR Drive and take exit 1 toward South Street. Continue on South Street, and then turn left onto State Street. Follow State Street until you reach the Battery Park area and find parking nearby (note: parking can be expensive, typically around $30-$50 per day). From there, head towards the water where you will find the ferries to Governors Island, which is where Castle Williams is located.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Castle Williams via public transportation, start by taking the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) from your nearest station to Penn Station in Manhattan. Once you arrive at Penn Station, exit and transfer to the subway. Take the 1 train from 34th Street - Penn Station towards South Ferry. Get off at the South Ferry station. From there, walk towards the Battery Maritime Building to catch the ferry to Governors Island. The ferry costs around $3 for a round trip and operates seasonally, so check the schedule ahead of time. Once you arrive on Governors Island, follow the signs to Castle Williams, which is a short walk from the ferry landing.
