    From the center of Poughkeepsie, walk to the Poughkeepsie Transit Hub located at 41 Main Street. Catch the 'Dutchess County Public Transit' bus route 2 towards 'Highland'. Inform the driver you want to get off at the stop for 'Route 299 & Ashokan Reservoir'. After about 30 minutes, you will arrive at the stop. From there, it is approximately a 15-minute walk to the Ashokan Reservoir. Follow the signs leading towards the reservoir.

    If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from a local shop in Poughkeepsie. Head east on Main Street towards the Walkway Over the Hudson. Cross over the walkway and continue on the Hudson Valley Rail Trail. Follow the trail until you reach Route 299. Take a right onto Route 299 and continue until you reach the Ashokan Reservoir. The total cycling distance is about 12 miles and may take around 1 hour.
