Start at the Auckland Britomart train station. Take the Western Line train towards Swanson. After about 30 minutes, get off at Swanson Station. From Swanson Station, walk to the nearby Swanson Village and catch the 125 bus towards Muriwai Beach. The bus ride will take around 15 minutes. Get off at the Muriwai Beach stop, and you will be just a short walk from the beach.
