If you are driving from Tauranga, take State Highway 2 heading east. Continue on this road for about 25 kilometers until you reach the intersection with State Highway 33. Turn left onto State Highway 33 and follow it for approximately 15 kilometers. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto State Highway 30. After about 10 kilometers, turn left onto the road to Motuotau (Rabbit Island). There is a parking area available near the ferry terminal.
