Getting There

Walking
If you are in the city center of Tauranga, start at the Tauranga Art Gallery located at 108 Willow Street. Head east on Willow Street towards the Strand. Once you reach the Strand, turn left and continue walking along the waterfront. Follow the path as it curves around the harbor. After about 1.5 kilometers, you will approach the Mount Maunganui area. Continue straight until you reach Pilot Bay Beach, which will be on your right. The walk from the city center should take around 30-40 minutes.

Public Transport (Bus)
From the Tauranga city center, you can take the Baybus No. 36 service towards Mount Maunganui. Board the bus at the bus stop on Willow Street (near the Tauranga Art Gallery). Stay on the bus for about 20 minutes, and get off at the 'Mount Maunganui Main Beach' stop. From there, it’s a short 5-minute walk to Pilot Bay Beach. Simply head south on Marine Parade, and you will see Pilot Bay Beach on your left.

If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the local rental shops in Tauranga. Start from the city center and head towards the waterfront.
