Getting There

  • Bus

    From the Dunedin city center, head to the bus terminal located at 100 Campbell Place. Look for the bus service that goes to Portobello. The bus number you want is the 'Portobello' bus. Once on the bus, enjoy the scenic ride towards the Otago Peninsula. The journey will take approximately 30-40 minutes. Disembark at the Portobello stop, which is close to the main road. From there, walk along Portobello Road heading towards Pakihau Road. After about a 10-minute walk, you will reach 45 Pakihau Road, where The OPERA - Otago Peninsula Eco Restoration Alliance is located.

  • Bicycle

    If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle from one of the rental shops in Dunedin. Start from the city center and head towards the Otago Peninsula. Follow the coastline along the Otago Harbour via Portobello Road. The ride is approximately 13 km and will take about 45 minutes to an hour, depending on your pace. As you approach Portobello, keep an eye out for Pakihau Road on your left. Turn onto Pakihau Road and continue straight until you reach 45 Pakihau Road, the location of The OPERA.

    For those who enjoy walking, you can start your journey from the city center. Head towards the Otago Harbour and follow the waterfront path along the coastline. This is a longer journey, approximately 13 km, and will take around 3 to 4 hours. As you make your way towards Portobello, enjoy the beautiful scenery of the harbour. When you reach Portobello, turn left onto Pakihau Road and walk straight until you arrive at 45 Pakihau Road, the home of The OPERA.
