Getting There

  • Car

    From Te Anau, head south on State Highway 94 towards Milford Sound. After approximately 7 km, turn left onto the Te Anau-Milford Highway. Drive for another 37 km until you reach the Divide shelter. Park your car in the designated parking area. This parking may incur a small fee; ensure you have cash available.

  • Hiking

    From the Divide shelter, you will begin your hike on the Key Summit Track. Follow the marked track for about 2 km until you reach the junction for the Routeburn Track. Continue on the Routeburn Track for approximately 12 km, which will take you through stunning alpine scenery. Keep an eye out for trail markers as you approach Freeman Burn Hut, which is located just off the main track. The hike takes around 4-5 hours depending on your pace.
