If you are driving, start your journey from Te Anau, the closest major town to Fiordland National Park. Head south on Te Anau-Mossburn Highway (State Highway 94) for approximately 25 kilometers until you reach the junction with the Milford Road (State Highway 94). Turn onto Milford Road and continue for about 30 kilometers. Look for signs to the Lake Roe Hut track, which is located off the Milford Track. Park your vehicle at the designated parking area near the start of the track.

From the parking area, you will need to hike to reach Lake Roe Hut. Follow the marked trail which is part of the popular Milford Track. The track is well-maintained and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. The trek to Lake Roe Hut is approximately 5-6 hours, depending on your pace. Ensure you are well-prepared with appropriate hiking gear, food, and water for the hike.

If you prefer public transportation, you can take a bus from Te Anau to the start of the Milford Track. Look for bus services such as Real Journeys or Tracknet which operate in the area.
