Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving, start by heading towards Dunedin city center. From Otago, take State Highway 1 south until you reach Dunedin. Once in the city, follow the signs for the city center. As you approach the city, take the exit for the Central Business District (CBD). Continue on Princes Street, then turn left onto Moray Place. Follow Moray Place until you reach the roundabout, where you will take the first exit onto The Octagon. From The Octagon, continue straight onto Stuart Street, then turn left onto Queens Gardens. The Dunedin Chinese Garden, Lan Yuan, is located at 39 Queens Gardens, on your left. Parking is available nearby, but be mindful of any parking fees that may apply.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transport, start by finding the nearest bus stop. You can take the bus route that services the city center. Check the local bus schedules (Otago Regional Council Bus Services) for routes that go to 'Dunedin City Center' or 'The Octagon'. Once you arrive at The Octagon, walk east on Stuart Street and turn left onto Queens Gardens. The garden will be on your left at 39 Queens Gardens. Make sure to have some coins handy for the bus fare, which typically costs around NZD 2.50 to NZD 5.00 depending on your starting point.

• Walking

  If you are already in the central part of Dunedin, you can easily walk to the Dunedin Chinese Garden. Locate The Octagon, which is a central hub in Dunedin. From The Octagon, head east on Stuart Street for a short distance. Take a left onto Queens Gardens, and you will find the garden at 39 Queens Gardens. This walk should take approximately 10-15 minutes.
