Getting There

  • Bus

    From Rotorua city center, head to the Rotorua Bus Terminal located at 1170 Haupapa Street. Catch the 'Kaituna Cascades Shuttle' which operates frequently during the day. The shuttle will take you directly to Okere Falls, which is the closest stop to Kaituna Cascades. The ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Make sure to inform the driver that you are going to Kaituna Cascades.

  • Bicycle

    For those feeling adventurous, you can rent a bicycle from one of the rental shops in Rotorua. Start your journey from the city center and head south on Fenton Street, then take a left onto State Highway 30. Continue on this highway until you reach Okere Falls Road. Turn onto Okere Falls Road and cycle until you reach 18 Okere Falls Road, where Kaituna Cascades is located. The total distance is approximately 15 km and will take about 1 hour to cycle, depending on your pace.

  • Walking

    If you prefer to walk, you can start from the Rotorua city center and head to the nearest bus stop at 1170 Haupapa Street to catch the shuttle mentioned earlier. Alternatively, for a scenic route, you can walk along the lakeside path towards the south. Follow the path along the lake until you reach the point where you can connect with State Highway 30. From there, you can continue walking along the highway until you reach Okere Falls Road. It’s a longer trek, about 15 km, so it’s best to plan for a 3-4 hour walk, depending on your pace.
