Getting there

Car

If you're traveling by car, start from Tasman town center. Head south on State Highway 60 (SH60) towards Motueka. Continue on SH60 for about 20 kilometers until you reach the junction with Abel Tasman Drive. Turn right onto Abel Tasman Drive and follow the signs to Abel Tasman National Park. After approximately 12 kilometers, you will reach the car park at the Marahau entrance to the park. Parking is available here, and there may be a small fee for parking, so be prepared with some cash.

Walking

From the Marahau car park, follow the Abel Tasman Coastal Track. The hike to Cleopatra's Pool is around 2.5 kilometers one way. The trail is well-marked and offers beautiful coastal views, so take your time and enjoy the scenery. The walk usually takes about 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on your pace. Make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water and snacks.

Public Transportation

If you're using public transport, you can take a bus from Nelson or Motueka to Marahau. Check the local bus schedules for timings, as services may vary. Once you arrive at Marahau, you will still need to walk to Cleopatra's Pool, following the same route as if you were driving. Make sure to plan your return journey, as bus services may not run frequently.
