If you're driving from Nelson, head southwest on State Highway 60 towards Māpua. After approximately 20 km, take the exit towards Māpua/Ruby Bay. Continue on Māpua Drive until you reach the intersection with Aranui Road, then turn left. Follow Aranui Road until you reach Mapua Wharf. The ferry terminal is located right at the wharf, and there is parking available nearby. Expect to pay around NZD 2 to NZD 5 per hour for parking.

To reach Mapua Ferry using public transportation, take a bus from Nelson to Māpua. The Nelson City Bus Service offers routes that connect to Māpua. Once you arrive in Māpua, the bus will drop you off at the main village area. From there, it's a short 10-minute walk to Mapua Wharf. Follow the signs towards the wharf, and you will find the ferry terminal. Be sure to check the bus schedule in advance, as services may be limited during weekends and public holidays.
