Getting There

Walking
Start at the Taupo town centre, specifically at the Taupo i-SITE Visitor Centre located on Tongariro Street. From there, head south on Tongariro Street towards the lakefront. Once you reach the lake, turn left and follow the path along the shoreline, which will eventually lead you to the scenic Lake Taupo. Continue walking along the lakefront path for about 30 minutes, enjoying the views of the water and surrounding mountains. As you reach the end of the path, you will see Wharewaka Point ahead. Walk up to Stanley Street, and you will find the entrance to Wharewaka Point on your right.

Bicycle
Rent a bicycle from one of the local rental shops in Taupo town centre. Once you have your bike, start from the Taupo i-SITE Visitor Centre on Tongariro Street. Ride south towards the lakefront, and then turn left onto the lakeside path. The ride will take you along the scenic shoreline, and you should keep pedaling for about 10-15 minutes. As you approach Wharewaka Point, look for the signs directing you to the path leading to Stanley Street. Follow the path to your right, and you will arrive at Wharewaka Point.

Catch a local bus from the Taupo town centre that heads towards Wharewaka. Buses usually depart from the bus stop near the Taupo i-SITE Visitor Centre on Tongariro Street.
