Walking
Begin your journey at the Whanganui i-SITE Visitor Information Centre located at 31 Taupo Quay. Exit the centre and head south on Taupo Quay towards the intersection with Victoria Avenue. Continue straight until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the third exit onto Victoria Avenue and walk for about 500 meters. You will pass several shops and cafés along the way. As you approach the intersection with Ridgway Street, look for the signs pointing towards the War Memorial Centre. Turn left onto Ridgway Street and continue until you see the entrance to The Sleeping Lion on your right side, nestled in the park area. The entire walk should take approximately 15-20 minutes.

From the Whanganui i-SITE Visitor Information Centre, head to the nearest bus stop located on Taupo Quay just outside the centre. Catch the local bus that goes towards the central Whanganui area. Make sure to ask the driver if they stop near the War Memorial Centre. Once you get off, walk along Ridgway Street towards the park area. The Sleeping Lion will be on your right side. The bus ride is typically around 10 minutes, plus a short 5-minute walk.
